Rly cop shot accidentally

A member of Railway police was shot in his leg after he was hit by a bullet accidentally fired from his colleague's gun at Kamalapur Railway Station in the city yesterday.

The injured was identified as Jasim Uddin, 28, a constable of Chittagong Railway Police Line.

Kamalapur Government Railway Police (GRP) said the incident occurred at around 2:45pm at platform-7 at the station when one of Jashim's colleagues, sitting next to him, mistakenly pulled the trigger of his shotgun while cleaning it.

Jasim is now under treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

GRP said Jasim along with his five other colleagues came to Dhaka from Chittagong on Sunday night. The incident occurred when they were waiting for a train at the platform to return to Chittagong.

A general diary was filed with the Kamalapur GRP station in this connection.
