Case Against Hasina
Court asks police to submit probe report by July 11

A Dhaka court yesterday again asked police to submit probe report by July 11 in the case against Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina and her personal staff Manu Majumder for extortion of Tk 3 crore.

Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Alam passed the order when the general recording officer (GRO) placed the case before the court saying that Tejgaon police are yet to submit the probe report.

On April 9, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina was sued in connection with extortion of Tk 3 crore.

Tajul Islam Farook, chairman of Westmont Power Company, filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station under non-bailable sections of the penal code.

Tajul complained of extortion and abuse of power by Hasina in 1998 when she was the prime minister.
