Important BCCI meeting today

Player contracts and Zee Group's proposed Indian Cricket League would be key items on the agenda of the working committee meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Delhi today.

Other important issues to be taken up for discussion by the committee include the finalisation of itinerary of the upcoming series against Australia and Pakistan and the appointment of a new India coach, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said here on Monday.

Shah is here to have a parley with the senior players on the contracts issue along with senior BCCI members vice-president Shashank Manohar, treasurer N Srinivasan and former president IS Bindra.

"The itineraries of the Australian and Pakistan tours, including dates and venues, will be discussed at Tuesday's meeting in the afternoon," Shah told reporters.

"The letter of Zee Group (on the ICL) is also an item on the meeting's agenda," he said.

But Shah refused to say whether the future of Kapil Dev, who's joined the ICL as head of its Board of Directors, as chief of the BCCI's Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy would be discussed.

Meanwhile, the BCCI and the players yesterday appeared to have sorted out differences on the contracts issue with both saying that the contracts would be signed in the next few days.

"We had a fruitful discussion with the board today (Monday). We are hopeful of signing it in the next few days," skipper Rahul Dravid said after talks with a BCCI committee on the issue.
