BCIC to import 75,000 tonnes of fertiliser

The government has approved import of 75,000 tonnes of fertiliser by the state-run Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).The approval was given at a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Public Purchase in its meeting at the Cabinet Division yesterday. The committee also approved the procurement of 1crore jute bags, each costing Tk 48.05, for the Ministry of Food to support its food procurement. These bags will be purchased from Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC). Finance adviser Mirza Azizul Islam, who chaired the meeting, briefed reporters on the decisions of the meeting. The committee also approved the appointment of an Australian consulting firm, Aus Health, as the lowest bidder, for establishing a programme support office (PSO) under government's Health, Nutrition and Population Sector Programme (HNPSP) assisted by the World Bank. Advisers to the caretaker government and senior officers concerned were present at the meeting.
