'Govt to probe graft allegations against Khaleda, Hasina'

The government will look into the allegations of corruption revealed by the detained BNP and Awami League leaders against their party chiefs--Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina."We knew that corruption involving thousands of crores of taka took place ...Nobody is above the law...As heads of the government, no one can avoid the responsibilities of corruption in their governments," Communications Adviser and Chairman of the National Committee on Serious Crimes and Corruption Maj Gen (retd) MA Matin told reporters at the Secretariat yesterday. Replying to a question, he said the allegations against the chiefs of the two parties are being scrutinised by his committee. "We'll carefully look into the allegations based on information (provided by the detained leaders during quizzing by the Task Force for Interrogation)."
