Two shot dead in Thailand

Two people were shot dead and nine security officials injured in a roadside bomb attack and shootings yesterday in Thailand's restive Muslim-majority south, police said.

A Buddhist and a Muslim in their early 30s were gunned down by Islamic rebels in a drive-by shooting while they were driving a motorcycle in Narathiwat, one of three violence-torn provinces bordering Malaysia.
