Death anniversary of Sabequnnahar Sony today

Today is the fifth death anniversary of Sabequnnahar Sony, the first female student to fall victim to campus violence.A student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Sony died in a crossfire during a gunfight between two factions of the BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on the Buet campus in 2002. On the occasion, fateha will be offered at her grave at Uttara Sector # 4 at 7:30am and wreaths will be placed at the memorial to Sony on the Buet campus at 9:30am. A doa mahfil will also be held at the Sonali Bank officers' quarters Jame Mosque at Sector # 8 in Uttara at 5:30pm. The Samajtantrik Chhatra Front will hold a photo exhibition on the series of demonstrations demanding trial of the killers of Sony.
