2 electrocuted in city during thunderstorm

An 'O' level student and a housewife were electrocuted in separate places in the city during four-hour thunderstorm and downpour last night.The victims are Protyayan Sarker, a student of an English medium school at Dhanmondi, and housewife Farzana Begum, 30, of Monipuri Para. Many city roads went under knee-deep water as the downpour that started at around 6:00pm continued up to 10:00pm. Homebound people suffered a lot as traffic movement virtually came to a halt. Many CNG-driven autorickshaws and private cars broke down on the way due to waterlogging. "I got on a BRTC Volvo bus at Paltan at 10:00pm and it took over two hours to reach Karwan Bazar," said Delwar Alam, who works at a private office in Paltan area.
