5 muggers held from near Jamuna Bridge

Police arrested five snatchers from Soydabad area on the western side of Jamuna Bridge in Sirajganj yesterday when they were fleeing after snatching Tk 58,000 from a cloth trader. Police also recovered Tk 1.20 lakh, some gold ornaments and cell phones and seized a private car used by the muggers. The arrestees are Abdul Kuddus, Anower Hossain, Khabir Uddin, Siddique and Mozid Mian. Police said the snatchers were moving in the area in a white private car. They snatched Tk 58000 from cloth trader Khadimul Islam of Subornosara village in Belkuchi upazila when he was waiting for a bus at Koddarmorh bus station to go Korotia in Tangail. As Khademul shouted after being mugged, a team of traffic police led by Habilder Asad sped there in a pickup van, chased the private car and intercepted it at Soydabad.
