The deceased was identified as Shakil Bepari, 17, of Katasur under Mohammadpur. He was working at a shoe store at Elephant Road.

Dhamnodi police recovered Shakil's body from the Jafrabad near a factory in the morning and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Morgue sources said they found a bullet in his head.

Abdul Kuddus, maternal uncle of Shakil, said Shakil has been missing since Tuesday night around 11:00pm when he went to his grandfather, Abdul Khaleq's neighbouring house to sleep after having his dinner at his house.

Police and family sources could not provide further information about the murder.
