Tigers train from today

The national cricketers return to business today at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium to begin preparation for the Sri Lanka tour.

Vice-captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and ace left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique will not be available at the camp for a few days due to their commitment to the Asia XI in the ongoing Afro-Asia Cup one-day competition in India.

Newly appointed captain Mohammad Ashraful, left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak and dashing opener Tamim Iqbal, who played a blazing knock of 30 in the Afro-Asia Cup's Twenty20 game in Bangalore on Tuesday, returned home yesterday.

The national selectors have announced a 15-member Test squad for the three-match series and five additional players for the one-day side with only one new face in an off-spinning all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad.

It would be a one-week camp before the team depart on June 17 for Colombo under the guidance of a new team management following the end of Dav Whatmore's four-year stint.

BCB's national game development manager Shaun Williams has been appointed as interim head coach for the trip but he is likely to join the camp on Saturday. The Australian is now in abroad on personal reasons.

Assistant coaches Sarwar Imran and Mohammed Salahuddin will conduct the first day's fitness and fielding training.
