Explosives chemical seized

The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested two people and seized huge amounts of chemical from a factory at Armanitola of Kotwali in the city.

The law enforcers arrested Arshad Ahmed, the owner of the factory, and Monir Hossain, an employee during the four-hour raid launched at 12:45pm.

They also seized 59 drums of Methyl Ethyl Kiton and nine drums of toluene from the factor's warehouse of the factory.

Officials of the Narcotics Control Department were also present during the raid.

"The factory authorities could not show any licence required for keeping such chemicals, which was used to produce alcohol and cocaine and make explosives," claimed a Rab official.

The owner, however, claimed that though they applied for licence two and a half years ago they are yet to get it.
