Our correspondent from Sirajganj reports: An unidentified person was killed and 15 others were injured in a road accident on the Sirajganj-Tarash road in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district yesterday.

Police and witnesses said the accident took place at around 2:00pm, when a Sirajganj bound passenger bus from Tarash turned turtle on the road at Shyamnai area near Dewvog Bridge as the driver lost control over the steering while he was trying to overtake another bus.

An unidentified passenger died on the way to hospital, while 15 others were injured.

The injured were admitted to Sirajganj, Tarash and Raiganj hospitals. Of them three are in critical condition.

Police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.

Our correspondent in Khagrachhari reports: One man was killed in a road accident on Shahid Kader Sarak at Khagrachhari Bazar under sadar upazila in Khagrachharii town yesterday.

He was identified as Mohammad Moslem Uddin Kalu, 35, son of Mokhlesur Rahman from Maddha Zia Nagor under sadar upazila in Khagrachhari district.

Police and witnesses said the accident occurred when a speeding car, locally known as Chander Gari and a bicycle passenger collided head-on leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police rushed to the spot, seized the Chander Gari and arrested the driver.

The body was sent to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy, sources said.

Meanwhile, Khagrachhari-Dhaka and Khagrachhari-Chittagong road remained suspended for about two hours following another accident.

A loaded truck turned turtle on the middle of the road at 12:00noon causing disruption of vehicular movement for two hours. However, none was injured, sources said.

Our staff correspondent in Khulna adds: One person was killed and another was injured in a road accident at 9:00am yesterday at Kathaltala under Dumuria upazila of Khulna district.

The dead was identified as Sirajul Islam, 30, son of Ayub Ali of Tala upazila of Satkhira, while the injured is Anwarul Islam, 28, now undergoing medical treatment in Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).

The accident occurred when a Khulna bound passenger bus from Satkhira collided head-on with a motorcycle bound for Paikgachha upazila of Khulna district. Siraj died on the spot while the motorcycle was smashed in the accident.

The bus driver managed to flee away with his bus.
