Our Chapainawabganj correspondent said five people including a woman were killed in the early hours of yesterday.

They are Yusuf Moral, 60, of Ramchandrapur College Para under sadar upazila, Enamul Haque, 40, of Shibnarayanpur under Kansat union, Sattar, 40, of Namotola, Aftab, 52, of Lahomari, and Saleha, 50, of Ranibari under Chalkkirti union of Shibganj upazila.

Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Dewan Abdus Samad and a member of Ranihati Union Parishad of sadar upazila confirmed the deaths. Our Pabna correspondent also reported killing of a young boy by lightning early yesterday.

Police and local sources said Sohel, 10, the dead, of Hakimpur village under Shujanager upazila, was collecting mangoes beneath a mango tree near his residence when lightning struck him killing him on the spot.

According to our Comilla correspondent, lightning killed Enamul Haq, 22, of Ramchnadrapur village under Burichang upazila of the district, while he was returning home from Kongshanagar market.

In Manikganj, two farmers were killed by lightning yesterday, reports our district correspondent.

They are Shamsul Islam, 20, of Lemubari village under Sadar upazila, and Bulu Khan, 60, of Charmastul village of Daulatpur upazila.
