Ex-MPs Mosharraf, Munshi sued again, Faruk on remand


Another case was yesterday filed against former health minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and 26 others for foiling an Awami League meeting in June, 2006.

The former minister has been made the main accused in the case filed with the cognisance court no 2 by Firoz Miah of Raghunathpur village in Titas upazila.

The complainant alleged that the armed supporters of Khandaker Mosharraf swooped on an Awami League rally at Dashkandi Primary School ground in Titas upazila on June 2, 2006.

They injured the AL activists with sharp weapons and foiled the meeting by exploding bombs.

Magistrate Shaheena Akther asked the officer-in-charge (OC) of Titas Police Station to investigate the incident and take legal action.

Earlier, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain was sued in a number of cases.

EX-MP FARUK REMANDED
A Noakhali court yesterday placed former BNP lawmaker Joynal Abedin Faruk on a five-day remand in an extortion case.

Magistrate M Golamur Rahman of the Special Tribunal granted the remand in the case filed by Faruq Chowdhury of Shenbagh Union.

Police arrested the former lawmaker in the capital's Khilkhet area on Friday.

CASE AGAINST MUNSHI
A case was filed yesterday against former BNP lawmaker Manjurul Ahsan Munshi and his 51 associates on charge of foiling an Iftar party hosted by an Awami League (AL) leader in 2005.

Khorshed Alam, Jubo League leader of Elahabad union under Debidwar upazila in Comilla, filed the case with a Cognizance Court-2 showing Munshi as the prime accused.

Munshi's son barrister Rezbaul Ahsan has also been indicted in the case.

The Iftar party was hosted by district AL leader Humayun Mahmud at his village home in Mohammadpur on October 29, 2005.

Magistrate of the court Shahina Akther directed the officer-in-charge of Debidwar Police Station to investigate the case.
