The arrestees are Manaf Ahmed Munna, 25, and Mohammad Naeem, 28. Rab personnel also recovered Tk 2,000 and a mobile phone set from their possession.

Rab sources said Munna and Naeem kidnapped a boy named Chayon Islam Rabin from Khalishpur area on April 28 and demanded Tk 5 lakh ransom for his release.

The kidnappers released the boy the same day after his mother Rikta Rahman gave them Tk 25,000 out of Tk 55,000 she promised to pay them.

On Thursday, the kidnappers pressed for the rest of the amount, threatening to abduct the boy again in case of failure.

Rikta informed the elite force of the matter and went to Moilapara to give Tk 30,000 to the kidnappers. When they were receiving the money from Rikta, the Rab men, waiting nearby, arrested the abductors. Rab later handed over the two to Sonadanga police.
