Bombs recovered in Meherpur

Five bombs were recovered from Kathuli border area in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district yesterday.

Being informed by the farmers, BDR personnel from Gangni border outpost rushed to the spot at around 3:00pm and found the bombs kept in a polybag near the border pillar no 133.

They recovered the bombs and later handed them over to the police. BDR suspected that smugglers might have left the bag containing the bombs, sensing the presence of BDR patrol team in the morning.

On Thursday, police recovered three bombs from a house at Dharmachaki village in the same upazila. Acting on a tip-off, Gangni police raided the house of Year Ali at around 8:00am and found the bombs wrapped with red tape in the kitchen.

They arrested Year Ali's son Afazuddin for his alleged link with an outlawed party.
