Law enforcers picked up nine people for quizzing from different parts of the capital after AHM Arefin Alam Rusho was shot dead in Dhanmondi on Thursday.A 20-member team was formed following the killing of Rusho, a BBA graduate from North South University and the son of Lt Col AHM Shafikul Alam and Lt Col Dr Ambory Begum, to look into the sensational mugging incident and the looting of Tk 4.45 lakh. An additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) was made the chief of the team. The team would continue its operations in order to curb mugging incidents in the capital. A total of five teams of police and Detective Branch of police (DB) are conducting operations in the city and its adjacent areas to identify the people involved in the mugging. Besides, several teams of Rapid Action Battalion are also conducting operations in the capital. Rusho was killed in Dhanmondi on Thursday during a mugging incident after he drew Tk 4.45 lakh from the Satmasjid Road branch of NCC Bank. His death came just after a day when the DMP at a press conference claimed a decrease in mugging incidents in the capital. The law enforcers are now picking up suspected muggers listed with different police stations in the city to find out if they had links with the killing. However, the law enforcers, as of 9:30pm yesterday, did not arrest anyone in this connection. "None was arrested yet. Operation is going on in and outside the capital," Officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi Police Station Monwar Hossain, who is investigating the case, said last night. "Mugging incidents have decreased in number and Thursday's incident was a sensational one which would be properly looked into," he added. Meanwhile, the body of Rusho was laid to rest at Banani Graveyard yesterday.
