Build resistance against corruption: ACC chief

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury yesterday called on all to build resistance against corruption at the grassroots level. "Corruption is the main problem we are facing as a nation. We should raise our voice against corruption from our respective positions and if the corrupt people are marked socially, it will be easy for a government to root out corruption," he said. The ACC chairman said this while exchanging views with civil society members, public representatives, newsmen, lawyers, businessmen and students at the Kishoreganj Bar Association building on the district court premises. The ACC chief said the voters should play a significant role in the drive against corruption by casting their votes for an honest candidate in the elections at any level. A crackdown on corrupt people will start soon, he said, calling on the civil society members to form committees with neutral persons to help stamp out corruption. Kishoreganj deputy commissioner (DC) Sultan Ahmed, superintendent of police Md Lutfur Rahman Mondol, President of Kishoreganj Bar Association Mia Mohammad Ferdous, Principal of Gurudayal Govt. College Badar Uddin Khan Pathan, Kishoreganj Municipal Chairman Abu Taher Mia attended the meeting.
