Satkhira make it to the last four

Hosts Satkhira blanked Rajshahi 2-0 to book a semifinal berth in the Western Union National Youth (U-18) Football Championship on the final day of the final round yesterday.Both teams ended on seven points but Satkhira, who lost their opening match to eventual Group A winners Noakhali, finished runners-up by virtue of a better goal difference. Man-of-the-match Mehedi Hasan Ripon at struck both the goals in the first half at the Satkhira Stadium to set up the home side's clash against favourites BKSP on May 27 in the last four. In the other match, Tangail thrashed Jhenidah 6-0 with a hattrick by Rafiqul and a brace from Ripon. Awal added the other goal for Tangail, who face Noakhali in tomorrow's first semifinal. The final is slated for May 29.
