TIB report biased
Says Khulna mayor
Staff Correspondent, Khulna
Khulna City Mayor Sheikh Tayebur Rahman has rejected TIB report on his services terming it as biased and confusing. The survey report jointly conducted by TIB and Sachetan Nagorik Committee (SNC) and presented in a press conference on Sunday has no credibility as it is full of lies and contradictory statistics based on interviews of only 500 household heads, city mayor said in a press statement yesterday. Earlier in a press conference on Sunday, the Transparency International, Bangladesh said that only four percent of the people of Khulna city are satisfied with mayoral services of Sheikh Tayebur Rahman because of manifold reasons. The TIB report, of course, did not mention anything about corruption in the Khulna City Corporation nor did the report point out any specific reason for mayor's loss of support from 96 percent city dwellers. The TIB report said that 48 percent of city dwellers could never reach the mayor to complain about their sufferings. City mayor denied the allegations saying the city dwellers had easy access to him to give vent to their problems.
