Properties worth Tk 4.5 lakh gutted in Ctg

At least 10 houses, 11 shops, three schools and valuable properties worth over Tk 5 lakh were gutted in a fire at Bakolia in the port city early yesterday. Sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop at the Bogarbil area at around 2.45am engulfed the adjacent 10 shops, 10 semi-pucca houses and three NGO-run schools. Five fire fighting units from city's different fire stations rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after a two-hour effort. The Fire Service authorities estimated the damages at Tk 4.5 lakh, sources said.
