Tangail and hosts Satkhira won their respective matches in the Western Union National Youth Football Championship final round yesterday.

Bindu struck the match winner in Satkhira's 1-0 win over Khulna at the Satkhira Stadium under heavy rain. In the other match, Rafiqul and Liton scored either side of the break as Tangail blanked Narshingdi 2-0.

DANONE CUP
Chittagong, Chapainawabganj, Khulna, Dhaka, Narayanganj and Jhenaidah emerged zonal champions in the qualifying round of the Danone Nations Cup.

In the zonal finals, Narayanganj edged Netrokona 1-0 at Sherpur, home side Jhenaidah defeated Chuadanga 1-0 in the tiebreakers after as goalless draw in regulation time, Chittagong beat Munshiganj by a solitary goal at home, hosts Chapainawabganj brushed aside Naogaon 6-1 while Khulna recorded a 1-0 win over visiting Barisal.

Our correspondent adds: Dhaka blanked hosts Manikganj 2-0 in the final with Nirjhar and Rubel scoring first half goals at the Manikganj Stadium. Earlier, Manikganj beat Faridpur 2-0 and Dhaka crushed Shariatpur 3-0 to reach the final. Rajbari and Madaripur also competed in the zonal competition.

RATING CHESS
Shamima Akhter Liza posted solo lead in the Prime Bank 2nd Women's International Rating chess tournament with maximum three points after beating Moni in the third round. Liza was closely followed by IWM Rani Hamid, Nazrana Khan Eva, Zakia Sultana and Mahmuda Haque, all with 2.5 points.

Sports World blanked Combined SC 3-0 in the AB Bank first division table tennis super league at the Woodenfloor Gymnasium but fellow title contenders Palolic Group dropped one set on way to a 3-1 win over Dhaka South East TTC. In the other match, TT Academy defeated Barna TTC in straight sets.
