One killed in Tangail road accident


One person was killed and two others were injured seriously in a road accident on Dhaka-Tangail Road at Mirzapur yesterday.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Mostofa Babul, 33, an office assistant of Rural Electrification Board (REB) in Dhaka.

Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at around 9:00am when the driver of a Bogra-bound jeep from Dhaka lost control over the vehicle that skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch at Achhimtola under the upazila.

Mostofa died on the spot while Habibullah Talukdar, 50, chairman of REB, and driver Rabindra Sutradhar, 45, were injured seriously.

Police recovered the body and took it to Mirzapur Police Station.

The injured were admitted to Tangail General Hospital.
