Police-NGO programmes to stop repression on women

Khulna police and Rupantar, a non-government organisation, have jointly taken up different programmes to work for prevention of women repression at family level.The programmes include holding of workshop in all ten districts of Khulna range, monitoring of the situation created out of women repression and submission of weekly reports to monitoring cell on preventive steps. The move has already drawn wide spread support from the people giving positive result. Prompt legal action is being taken properly soon after receiving allegation of women repression, said Khulna range DIG Md Mesbaunnabi. Additional range DIG Asaduzzaman Mian who is chief of Monitoring Cell issued a press statement yesterday saying police received 178 allegations of women repression in the last two weeks from different districts of Khulna division. Of them, two allegations were treated as regular cases, seven are under investigation while the rest were disposed of through various steps as they did not demand legal action by their nature.
