Unb, Sylhet
The first unit of 105MW power plant at Fenchuganj will go into operation next September. "Installation work is progressing fast and the first unit of the power plant will be commissioned in September that will generate 35MW," a project official told UNB yesterday. He said the three-unit power plant with total generation capacity of 105MW is expected to be completed by January next year. On completion of the project at a cost of Tk 717.23 crore, country's power crisis will be eased. Two units of the project will have gas turbine and one steam turbine. The electricity to be generated by the plant will be added to the national greed. Fenchuganj has already a 90MW Combined Cycle Power Plant. The new power plant inaugurated by former finance minister Saifur Rahman on October 3 last year is being built by Harbin Power Engineering Company of China on a turn-key basis. The entire project cost is financed from domestic resources.
