Wage all-out movement against corruption
Says ACC chief

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury yesterday urged all to wage an all-out movement to resist crime and corruption.

"Raise your voice whenever you see any unethical or illegal activities... an inactive civil society is enough for destroying the entire society", said the ACC chief while exchanging views with a cross-section of people at the divisional headquarters.

He also emphasised on resisting corruption locally through anti-corruption bodies.

He said, ACC will play its role in curbing corruption, but people across the country must come forward, too.

The former adviser visited Chapainawabganj, Rajshahi and Natore districts and held meetings with the local administrations, members of the civil society, journalists, lawyers, businessmen, religious teachers, university teachers and students and ACC officials at the grassroots level.

He sought assistance from all quarters and said the present government has assured him of taking necessary actions and steps against corruption.

"It is high time we fought corruption", he observed.

He also called upon all to give up such practices immediately.

The ACC chief expressed his firm belief that people would extend their hands towards the current drive against corruption and help the nation reach its goal.
