Passport seekers' woes

A passport is an essential document. There are more than a crore people alone in the Dhaka city. The passport office in Dhaka not only serves them but also the people of the whole country.

How can a single office in the far corner of the city serve so many people, that, too, being staffed with such a scanty figure of officers and other employees. The authorities should look into it without any further delay.

I admire the timely editorial appearing in The Daily Star of May 9, 2007 in this respect and would like to voice my demand for another three regional passport offices in Dhaka city with adequate number of staff to mitigate the sufferings of the passport seekers.
