Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka accorded a reception to fourteen successful mothers at its Ballroom in the city yesterday on the occasion of the International Mother's Day.Women and Children Affairs Adviser Geeteara Safiya Chowdhury attended the function as the chief guest. The adviser in her speech expressed her gratitude to every mother for their contributions to build up the future of the nation. She urged all mothers to pledge their word to inculcate patriotism and ethics in the new generation for the country's progress. Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel organised the function in association with Anchor while ICE Today and Channel i were media partners. The successful mothers are litterateur Rabeya Khatun, Executive Director of Manusher Jonno Foundation Shaheen Anam, women leader Maleka Begum, actress Ferdousi Majumder, chess player Rani Hamid, former advisers to the caretaker government Rokia Afzal Rahman and Yasmeen Murshed, Barrister Tania Amir, designer Maheen Khan, singer Fatema Tuz Zohra and Prof Dr Rowshan Ara Begum. Rashida Chowdhury, mother of singer Samina Chowdhury, Jinat Ara, mother of singer Mehreen and Ila Majumder, mother of singer Bappa Majumder also attended the programme with their children as successful mothers. Maleka Begum in her reaction urged women to stand against all odds and become courageous enough to resist domestic violence. Yasmeen Murshed laid emphasis on open interaction with the younger generation for a happy relationship between parents and children. In her speech, actress Tropa Majumder hailed her mother for the success she achieved and urged all mothers to be conscious about proper childcare as today's mothers can't afford to spend much time with their children because of their profession.
