Law, Justice and Parliamentary Adviser Barrister Mainul Hosein yesterday said the main objective of the present caretaker government is to establish an honest and non-partisan civil service, best suited to advise the government and use their own expertise in good governance."Politically ambitious civil servants are hazardous for the government as well as for themselves," he said while addressing the inaugural session of the 39th foundation-training course for the entry level government officials as the chief guest at Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) here. Rector of BPATC Abu M Maniruzzaman Khan chaired the function while Course Adviser Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan and Course Director Tapan Kumar Karmakar also spoke. Mainul referred to the challenges emerging day by day in the modern world and said the idea of administering the government has also changed radically. "We are living in a highly complex and competitive world with unprecedented socio-economic transformations taking place in and around," he said. The adviser said the civil servants must acquire special knowledge, skills, leadership quality and team spirit in the strongest sense of dedication to offer their best services for making the government machinery an engine of achieving public welfare. Describing the civil servants as the indispensable partners and backbone of the government, He asked the cadre trainees to strictly obey their code of conduct and not get politicised while serving a party government. "Your very special usefulness and professionalism end where partisan politics show up in your conduct," he said and expressed his firm confidence that the BPATC would impart quality training and right motivation to the young cadres of the government.
