The FA Cup
Terry seeks revenge

Chelsea captain John Terry wants to win the FA Cup so the Londoners can take some of the edge off losing their Premiership title to Manchester United.

The rivals meet on Saturday for the first FA Cup Final at the rebuilt Wembley Stadium with England skipper Terry thirsting for revenge.

Before that match the centre-half will lead Chelsea out at Stamford Bridge for their final league games of the season against Everton where they will try to equal Liverpool's record of 63 unbeaten home games.

However, Terry cannot wait for the journey to north London and a last chance to put one over on United by denying Sir Alex Ferguson's side the 'double'.

"That will be the last game of the season. We can go off on our holidays having won the FA Cup and enjoy it.

"Man Utd will have the feeling that we had after losing the Premiership. They will have to wait until next season to get that winning feeling back. If we can go away and do that it will be great.

"The Premiership has hurt me the most this season. I have loved lifting that trophy and on Sunday it is not going to be right. There will be something missing. It is up to us as a group and the manager to lift everyone again because that has got to be our base for years to come.

"For two days after the Champions League defeat (against Liverpool), I didn't want to come out of my house. You go through lows in your life where you feel as though you've let down your family, friends and Chelsea fans.

"We've had so many great opportunities to go to the next level - the Monaco semifinal and the two Liverpool games in three years. To see Liverpool do it is very upsetting and going out on penalties wasn't nice at all.

"I have not been too happy recently but that is the same with all the lads and it is good to see when everyone is like that.

"The last thing I would have wanted to see was us get knocked out of the Champions League and lose the Premiership and everyone be happy. It has been nice to see everyone moping about a bit.

"All the lads will be fired up for the cup final but Manchester United will be as well. The FA Cup is a great trophy and to be the first one to win it at the new Wembley is another reason to be fired up."

Chelsea didn't make life as tough for the Old Trafford team as they might have done, failing to beat Newcastle a day after United had stumbled at home to Middles-brough.

However, Terry said of Ferguson's team: "I think they won it because they were very good this year. Four or five of their players have been different class this year.

"We had chances throughout the season where we could really have put pressure on them. The Newcastle game for me sticks out. If we had beaten them it would have been game on I think."

United may have ended Chelsea's two seasons at the top of English football before the clubs met on Wednesday but an ill-tempered goalless draw in west London suggested neither side would be easing off at Wembley.

Chelsea have already won the League Cup this term but Terry knows that won't satisfy Blues fans or the club's Russian's billonaire owner Roman Abramovich.
