HSC exams begin today

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent Alim and Business Management examinations begin today under nine education boards of the country.As many as 5,41,817 students will sit for the exams this year under Dhaka, Rajshahi, Comilla, Jessore, Chittagong, Barisal, Sylhet, Madrasa and Technical education boards. Of them, 1,29,179 will appear in the exams under Dhaka Education Board, 1,04,394 under Rajshahi, 46,573 under Comilla, 80,535 under Jessore, 37,764 under Chittagong, 24,599 under Barisal and 17,204 under Sylhet education boards from 1007 centres. Some 52,034 students will appear in Alim exams under Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board from 345 centres and 49,535 students will sit for the HSC (BM) exams under Bangladesh Technical Education Board from 480 centres. Besides, some 166 candidates will sit for the HSC exams in five centers abroad under Dhaka Education Board. The centres are Jeddah, Riyadh, Tripoli, Doha and Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has slapped a ban on public entry into 200 yards of city centres during the examinations. The ban will remain in force until the examinations are over, said a DMP press release.
