Students of Communication & Journalism Department of Chittagong University have been demanding that this department be brought under social science faculty with a view to creating more opportunities for graduates in the job market.As reported in the press, the department is under social science faculty in Dhaka and Rajshahi universities. In my opinion, the dept of communication and journalism can be placed under social science faculty or even science faculty. Because communication and journalism is a discipline which deals with psychology of human behaviour, sociology of human society plus a wide range of science subjects-from agriculture to medicine. I sincerely hope that the Chittagong University authorities will review the matter and take an appropriate decision in this regard.
