HC stays vacation order


High Court (HC) yesterday stayed the order to vacate Kokborok library, set up for indigenous Tripura students, for three weeks.

HC Division Bench consisting of Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Quamrul Islam Siddqui passed the order following a writ petition filed by Tripura Students' Forum Bangladesh. (TSF) vice president Roaza Jagadish Tripura to stop the order, court sources said.

Earlier, TSF urged the district administration to stop its move to vacate the library. TSF leaders also handed over two memorandums to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shahadat Hossain and District Council Chairman Monindra Lal Tripura. They said that the library is non-political and it was established for upholding the tradition, culture of the indigenous community.

When contacted, TSF president Roaza Jagadish Tripura said the HC stayed the order for three weeks following a writ petition filed by them in High Court.
