The dead is Abdul Wahab alias Shakil, 42, of Keshtopur village under Jhenidah sadar upazila. Of the injured, Atiar Rahman, 40, is in a critical condition.

Witnesses said Shakil and Atiar were gossiping sitting in front of a pharmacy at Paglakanai at around 8:00pm. At that time, three to four criminals abruptly sprayed bullets on them killing Shakil on the spot and injuring Atiar, Nur Ali, Sabdar Hossain and Khairul Islam.

Injured Atiar is undergoing operation at Jhenidah sadar hospital.

Police said Shakil and Atiar were involved in outlawed party.

When contacted, on-duty Sub Inspector Ashaduzzaman said, on information, they went to the spot.
