Hindu girl 'forced' to be a convert, get married
Seven sued in Satkhira


A case was filed with sadar thana accusing seven people including four lawyers of judge court yesterday allegedly for abducting and raping an adolescent Hindu girl.

The victim's mother Mati Rani Das filed the case against the accused under the Woman and Child Repression Act of 2002.

The accused are Advocate Azharul Islam, Adv. Sirajul Islam, Adv. Rezauddowla Bachchu, Adv. Ashraful Alam Siddique ,Haidar Ali, Eman Hossain and Riazul Islam. Police said, the accused Haidar, Eman and Riazul abducted the daughter of Hiralal Das of village Babulia on March 13.

The accused in collaboration with each other brought the victim to Satkhira Court compound and forced her to embrace Islam by making an affidavit and in another affidavit Haidar Ali married the victim on the same day.

Accused Adv. Azharul Islam, Adv. Sirajul Islam and Adv. Razauddowla made the affidavit while Adv. Ashraful Alam identified her even knowing her tender age, police said. "They have damaged the communal harmony and created chaos by forcing her to embrace Islam and get married unlawfuly"police said. On contact, Sadar Thana OC Sufiqur Rahman confirmed the incident.
