Reconstitute university syndicates

The image of the public universities has sunk unspeakably low due to appointment of Tom, Dick and Harry as members of the prestigious syndicates. Many of these people are semiliterate and are not fit to sit as members of the governing body of a primary school and most them are not conversant with the university system, its rules and regulations. Strict criteria including a minimum level of academic qualification should be set for the membership of the syndicate. The prime minister has to face unbearable pressure from the political cadres seeking such membership. If the strict criteria are set, the PM as well as the universities will be relieved of such pressure from the lobbyists.

Therefore, all the syndicates of public universities should immediately be declared null and void and these should be reconstituted as per the set criteria.
