Ref abuse has dire consequences
Afp, Sydney
Adelaide United coach John Kosmina will be forced to watch this weekend's A-League grand final from the stands after being handed a five-match touchline ban on Thursday for abusing a referee.Kosmina was also fined an undisclosed amount for breaching the league's code of conduct after abusing referee Matthew Breeze following last weekend's preliminary final win against Newcastle Jets. Kosmina ran past Breeze and was shown in television footage mouthing obscenities at the referee after his side's dramatic penalty shootout victory which earned them a place in the grand final. Football Federation Australia said Kosmina would be banned from the technical area on the sidelines for five matches, starting with Sunday's grand final against Melbourne Victory. His ban will also include next season's pre-season cup matches, but will not affect Adelaide's Asian Champions League campaign beginning next month. It is the second touchline ban this season for Kosmina, who was banished for three matches after grabbing Melbourne Victory skipper Kevin Muscat by the throat during an altercation in October.
