Cultural Correspondent
A 13-episode TV show, titled Nijeke Jano Shafollo Ano, highlighting adolescents and their issues is currently running on ATN Bangla every Wednesday at 5:10pm. Adolescence is a complex time for youngsters. Their bodies go through changes and they naturally have a lot of questions. There is a lot of misinformation out there and many teens don't feel comfortable talking to their parents about these topics. The aim of the programme is to create awareness among the adolescents, their parents, neighbours and decision-makers. Hosted by popular actor Tarek Anam Khan along with two teenagers, the show features topics including child marriage, HIV/AIDS, likes and dislikes, physical changes, the common challenges of growing up, others social and health issues. Each episode of the programme features clips on healthy lifestyle, music videos, interview sessions with media personalities and an interactive session (questions and answers) with renowned psychologists. The programme is produced under the banner of Ddhoni-Chitra Ltd with financial support from the United Stats Agency for International Development (USAID) and technical support from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
