2 arrested with bombs from south gate of Bangabhaban

Police arrested two youths with two bombs from the south gate of Bangabhaban yesterday suspecting that the detainees might have a link to Monday's bomb explosions at the same area.

The arrestees, Ripon Mia, 14, and Sabbir Hussain, 15, were arrested at a police checkpoint set up near the south gate of Bangabhaban at 4:05pm with two hand made cocktails. They were roaming around the checkpoint suspiciously with their hands in their pockets, police said.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Detective Branch (DB) Mozammel Hossain told the Daily Star that these two boys might have a connection with the explosions of two powerful handmade bombs on Monday.

He also said that they might have been sent by the masterminds to carry out further explosions in Bangabhaban area.

The arrestees however failed to give any clear answer in interrogation.
