Form judicial council to remove CEC

Leaders of Combined Citizens Movement and Peshajibi Samonnoy Parishad yesterday urged the caretaker government to remove the Chief Election Commissioner by forming Supreme Judicial Council to save the country from confrontational situation. They were speaking at a rally on the second day of blockade programme on the Institution of Engineers' Bangladesh (IEB) premises. Abdur Razzak, Suranjit Sen Gupta, Hasanul Haque Inu, Dilip Barua, Prof Abdul Ahad Chowdhury, Prof AK Azad Chowdhury, Ramendu Majumdar, Nasir Uddin Yusuf, AAMS Arefin Siddique and Abdus Samad Pintu spoke on the occasion. Earlier leaders and activists of different front organisations of the Movement and the Parishad organised rallies and brought out processions from different city streets including Banglamotor, Shahbagh, Swadhinata Stamva, National Press Club, High Court and IEB premises. The rally and procession will also continue today on IEB premises from 10:00am to 5:00pm if the programme of 14-party continues.
