14-party blames Barisal mayor for unleashing reign of terror

Local leaders of 14-party combine yesterday accused Barisal City Corporation (BCC) mayor of unleashing a reign of terror by violating Section 144.

They alleged that the mayor and other BNP leaders are taking part in political programmes and gatherings in places where the local administration had imposed section 144 to avoid any untoward incidents.

At a press conference in a city restaurant, 14-party leaders said they will file case against Mayor Advocate Majibur Rahman Sarwar for conducting terrorist activities and ransacking their offices by using fire arms on October 28.

They also demanded changes in the district administration including police and election commission.

Advocate Shawkat Hossain Hiron of Awami League, Advocate Abdul Hye Mahbub of JSD and Prof Abdus Sattar of Workers' Party spoke at the press conference.
