Leaders of Chhatra Sangram Parishad, a combine of seven student organisations led by the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), yesterday said President Iajuddin Ahmed must give proof of his neutrality as the chief adviser to caretaker government through his activities. They also said the chief adviser must prove his neutrality by arresting corrupt ministers and lawmakers of BNP-Jamaat coalition government and the criminals of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS). At a rally at Muktangan in the city, Parishad leaders reiterated their 10-point demand and urged the caretaker government to immediately meet the demands. The 10-point demand includes immediate reopening of country's public universities and bringing back congenial atmosphere at the educational institutions, arrest of the armed cadres of JCD and ICS from Dhaka University campus and release of the Parishad leaders arrested during the BNP-Jamaat government in the last five years. Addressing the rally, BCL President Mahmud Hasan Ripon said if their demands are not met by November 11, they would paralyse the country through indefinite blockade. Terming the JCD and ICS as cadre forces of BNP and Jamaat, he alleged that these two organisations had been creating anarchy across the country. He also demanded a ban on Shibir politics. The Parishad will submit a memorandum tomorrow to the president and the chief adviser. Besides, it will lay a siege to the Election Commission on November 9 demanding its reformation and removal of Chief Election Commissioner Justice MA Aziz and two other controversial election commissioners. JSD-backed BCL President Shariful Kabir Swapan, General Secretary Ali Hasan Tarun, Chhatra Moitri President Rafiqul Islam Sujan, Jatiya Chhatra Dhara President Bijoy Talukdar, Chhatra Samity Convener Mushtak Ahmed and Chhatra Andolon President Kanak Barua also spoke.
