BCB shortlists nominations for awards

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday shortlisted the nominees for the Bangladesh Cricket Awards 2005-06 which will be held at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Centre on Wednesday.Left-handed national opener Shahriar Nafees topped the list of the Cricketer of the Year award and was followed by his captain Habibul Bashar and left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak. The newly appointed vice-captain was also nominated for the Best Batsman award along with Mohammad Ashraful and Bashar. Left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique, tearaway paceman Mashrafee Bin Mortuza and Razzak will fight for the Best Bowler prize while Aftab Ahmed, Mashrafee and Rafique are vying for the Best All-Rounder award. Recent debutants Sakib Al Hasan and Forhad Reza along with young wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim made up the list for the Emerging Cricketer while Mehrab Hossain, who got his first national call for next month's ICC Champions Trophy, Nazmus Sadat and Nadif Chowdhury were selected for Young Tigers award. Late coach and national cricketer Daulatuzzaman has been selected for the Lifetime Achievement award. For the Best Umpires, the nominees are Akhteruddin Shaheen, Nadir Shah and Khandaker Ziaul Islam Masud.
