Indian Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down two Bangladeshi citizens on Nimtola border under sadar upazila in Chuadanga and at Moheshpur border in Jhenidah in the early hours yesterday.The dead were identified as Ansar Mondol, 40, of Khorshedpur of sadar upazila in Chuadanga and Uzzal, 26, of Kulia village of Moheshpur in Jhenidah. According to Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), a BSF team from Gede camp under Krishnapur district in West Bengal shot Ansar near the border pillar 75 at around 5:00am, killing him on the spot. Ansar went there to answer a call of nature, said Maj Matin, commanding officer of the BDR battalion quoting the victim's family members. On June 9, the Indian border guards of Gede camp engaged in a fierce gun-battle with BDR at Nimtola border point that left one Bangladeshi killed and some 50 injured. Our correspondent from Jhenidah reports: The BSF entered Bangladesh territory and shot Uzzal, a farmer, at a field of Kulia village at Moheshpur border. Locals said Uzzal went to the field at around 5:00am, when BSF of Moshompur camp shot him to death mistaking him for a smuggler. The Indian border guards later took the body away. Contacted, Eakub Ali, Habildar of Kulia camp could not comment regarding the incident.
