Musical evening showcasing an array of Bengali songs

Bangladesh Performing Media Centre (BPMC) organised a musical evening on September 5. The event took place at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium, National Museum. In the first session, a short discussion was held. Sarbajit Chakrabarty deputy high commissioner of Indian High Commission was the chief guest of the event. Artistes Moloy Kumar Ganguli and Bulbul Mahalanabish were the special guests. The programme was presided over by chief advisor of BPMC Syed Margub Morshed. BPMC was founded in 2000 by Dilip Kumar Gomosta. Since then it has been holding cultural programmes on a regular basis and so far the organisation has had 48 performances. The objective is to provide a platform for upcoming singers. After the discussion, the musical programme began with Shirin Akhtar Chandona singing Ami jedin roibona go and Nurjahan. Eli Haq also sang two Nazrul songs Tumi ki dokhina paban and Joto phul toto bhul.Choitaly Khan sang Dhoronir pathey pathey and Dure chakrite pranbondhu. She was greeted with hearty applause. Other artistes to perform were Badrunnisa Dalia, Chhonda Chakraborti, Fatima Amin, Moslema Akhtar Tuktuk, Shirin Akter Chandona, Shahid Shumon and Sharmin Rahman Choity. The event wrapped up with a folk performance by Shamol Paul. He sang two popular Bhawaia numbers of the legendary singer Abbasuddin Ahmed, beginning with Jeidin garial ujan jae and Oki ekbar ashia shonar chan mor.BPMC plans to hold a two-day long celebration on November 14 and 15 to celebrate their 50th performance.
