Eyeing the jackpot... the nine finalists of Lux Channel i Super Star '06


Treasured memories, pleasant anecdotes and interesting incidents are an integral part of any beauty pageant. The Lux Channel i Superstar '06 (LCSS'06) is moving towards its finale. As the reality show enters its last leg, the nine young finalists -- Rimi, Badhon, Bindu, Rahi, Aparna, Munmun, Mamo, Urmi and Nafiza, -- are on tenterhooks as each hopes to become the new acting sensation through a film based on Humayun Ahmed's popular book Daruchini Dwip.The contestants are busy rehearsing and prepping for the final event. A conversation with the participants reveals their hopes, aspirations and their reaction to their performances. The show is currently aired on Channel i every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:35pm.

Ishrat Jahan Rimi
Rimi has completed her HSC with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5 and is now seeking admission in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet); she wants to be an engineer.

Azmeri Hoque Badhon
Badhon, a student of Bangladesh Medical College (Dentistry) has the combination of good looks, charisma and flair. Talking about the event, Badhon says, "Living up to the expectations of the viewers and delivering quality performances is not an easy task."

Afsana Ara Bindu
Bindu is a traditional Bangladeshi beauty. She is a student of Business Administration (BBA) at the Jahangirnagar University. She entertains the ambition of joining the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). She also plans to go in for modeling and acting.

Rizwana Razzak Rahi
Rahi, a young vivacious contestant in the LCSS '06, reveals, "I wanted to figure out what is so special about the contest and the judges really made me feel comfortable. Earlier I was bit nervous but I can carry myself more confidently now."

Aparna Ghosh
Aparna is confident, charming and knowledgeable. She is currently studying English at thePremier University (Chittagong). Talking about her hopes for the future, she says, "I do not hanker after fame, money and popularity that come the way of the top participant."

Rumana Malik Munmun
A bright smile is the trademark of the girl from Sylhet, schooled in Scholastica (Pvt.) Limited. Currently she is pursuing a Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA) at North South University. She says, “Though I was an English medium student, I am a Bangladeshi at heart. This pageant is one of the most prestigious for its kind."

Zakia Bari Mamo
Zakia exudes confidence and charisma. Asked about LCSS '06 Zakia says, “I want to take acting as a career. I think if I win the competition, people will know me and this familiarity will help me to move forward.”

Nafiza Jahan Mishti
Nafiza usually wears a smile -- a plus mark in the contest. She has the confidence to go all the way to the top, helped along by her good communication skills and her beauty. Nafiza grew up in Dhaka and currently studies in the Computer Science Department in Independent University of Bangladesh.

Farhana Sharmin Urmi
Her simplicity is what gives her an edge. She says, “As I want to become a professional actor and model, it is essential for me to know where I stand, and I will find my answers from the judges of LCSS".
