Housewife strangled for dowry

A housewife was allegedly strangled by her husband for dowry in the city's Badda area yesterday.

Police recovered the body of Farida Khatun Simi, 18, wife of Jahangir Hussain, from a place near Satarkul graveyard at around 6:00am and sent it to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Morgue sources said doctors found some marks in her neck that suggest that she was strangled. Farida's uncle Mozaffar Hossain told reporters that Jahangir had been demanding Tk 60,000 from his in-laws since they got married around four months ago.

Jahangir has been missing since the incident.
