The glitterati turn up in full strength

On August 11, the who's who of filmdom staged an entry at the film awards organised by Bangladesh Film Producers Distributors Association (BFPDA) at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. Among the notables were Razzak (recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award), Reaz, Amin Khan, Ilias Kanchan, Rubel, Moushumi, Shabnoor, Popy and Purnima. From the music scene were Shakila Zafar, Subir Nandi, Shubra Dev and Asif. Other guests were leading film directors, producers, composers and music directors. Actors, directors, producers, music directors, writers whose efforts have made it possible to make quality films during 1999 to 2003 were awarded at the ceremony. Popular singers, Shakila Zafar, Asif, Subir Nandi, Shubra Deb performed at the event. The audience were riveted by their performance. Film stars Reaz, Anjona, Amin Khan, Sujata and Ilias Khanchon also gave dance performances. The film Ammajan by Kazi Hayat won awards in several categories: The best film award for 1999, the best director award, while Manna won the best actor award and Moushumi bagged the best actress award. Rockstar, Ayub Bachhu received the best singer award. For 2000 the best film award went to Jokhom, while best actor award was taken by Amin Khan(for Aj gaye holud) and the award for best singer went to Syed Abdul Hadi (for Wrong Number). For 2001, the award for the best film went to Premer Tajmahal, while the award for the best director went to Gazi Mahbub. The best actor's award went to Rubel and Shabnoor. For 2002 the award of the best film went to Itihas, directed by Kazi Hayat. The award for best director went to Nargis Akhtar for Meghla Akash. Riaz (Bhalo bashak kare koy) and Moushumi won the award for the best actors. For 2003, the award for best director went to Chashi Nazrul Islam for Hasan Raja. The award for the best actors went to Helal Khan and Shomi Kaiser. Communications minister Barrister Najmul Huda, was the chief guest at the event.
