Dhaka to send relief

Bangladesh will provide relief materials, including 20,000 blankets and 500 tins of biscuit, for war-torn Lebanon within a week.

The decision was taken at an emergency inter-ministerial meeting yesterday with Food and Disaster Management Minister Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf in the chair.

The relief goods are being sent in response to the Lebanese government's appeal to the international community for help, according to an official release.

It said preparation is also on to send diarrhoea preventive saline, antibiotics, painkillers, tents, readymade garments and tea.

High officials of the ministries concerned were present at the meeting.
